Dear Hollywood UMC family:

Our new Governance Board is hard at work!  Chaired by Alicia Lara, its members include Brian Bechel, Dorian Traube, Eric Chapman, Jenn Zelazny, John Tunnell, Tim Baudler, Dan Alexander, and Jane Crockett.   In working with this gifted group of leaders, we have identified 3 areas of priority for 2012.  They are:
 

1.     15% growth in worship attendance, from 306 to 352.  Last year our growth was 14.7%, so this is attainable if we continue to share what God is doing in this place with others!

2.     Stability and growth in our income.  Our current budget is running a $100K deficit, for which we need to attract increased revenues to close.

3.     A successful transition from our former administrative structures to our new Governance Structure.   We’ll be looking at setting benchmarks to make sure we’re on track; your suggestions on how we define a “successful transition” are always welcome!

 
The members of the Governance Board can be contacted as a group at GovernanceBoard@hollywoodumc.org.  They would love to hear your ideas and feedback on how we as a congregation can continue to strive for excellence and growth.
 
This Sunday we begin a new sermon series entitled Mardi Gras: The Food Stories of Jesus.  We’ll spend the next three weeks leading up to Ash Wednesday looking at the importance Jesus placed upon breaking bread together.  This Sunday we’ll focus on “Bread and Wine,” as we consider the Last Supper and then share communion together. Come, and bring a friend!
